Tim was born dancing to the Western Swing Music of Roger Crandall and the Barn Dance Boys. His father, Buck Foster, was the band’s drummer. After some years of training and performing on the West Coast, Tim left for the Big Apple and began working as a Professional Dancer/Actor/Singer almost immediately. He also had valuable experience as manager and co-director of a dance school and dance company on the West Coast. This made Tim a natural choice for Dance Captain, who is responsible for teaching and keeping a production fresh, or a Swing, who must cover many roles in a production.

Theatrical adventures took him all over the world with A Chorus Line, where his versatility was sought after by other companies that recreated magic abroad and in the USA. He developed into another life as a choreographer and teacher. Tim worked consistently on stage and in film, both as a performer and a choreographer.

When one window closes, another one opens.

Tim’s love of all types of music and visual art grew throughout his time dancing with the New York City Opera Ballet at Lincoln Center’s State Theater (now the David H. Koch Theater). He soon became involved with the Wardrobe Departments of both New York City Opera and New York City Ballet, where he ultimately became the first official shoe dyer for the NYCB’s Wardrobe Department. Transitions from one career to another are the pathway that shaped Tim into the artist he is today.

Tim is still dancing through life and decorating the journey with his many works of art inspired by the colors left behind as he paints beautiful shoes for other dancers. How full circle has it become? Transitions will continue to tell the story.
